The procedure, done by Doctor Alex Castagna from the Milan Humanitas Institute and shoulder specialist Dr Giuseppe Porcellini, took about 2 hours and went without any complications. Valentino is expected to be leaving the hospital today to start his rehabilitation period that is expected to last around 90 days.

"The condition of the shoulder was really critical: Valentino really had to be tough to keep racing with that kind of injury,” commented the surgeons after the operation, "but the procedure went well. For rehabilitation, usually 90 days are needed for that kind of injury but we do our best in order to meet the requirements of the rider".
