Who is Pauls Jonass?

Last Saturday the 76 young motocross riders entered for the event were divided in two groups to take part in several qualifying session in order to be qualified for the main races.

At the end of the day the EMX125 riders took part in the first round of the Italian round and this morning they were the first ones to go out to the track to race the second heat of the event. Pauls Jonass obtained the red plate after winning both heats and Anton Lundgren and Calvin Vlaanderen were second and third respectively.

Wilvo Nestaan JM Racing KTM’s Pauls Jonass won the first race yesterday with great authority crossing the finish line four seconds ahead of second classified Anton Lundgren.  Jonass was not able to start at the front but after three laps he moved up to the lead and won the race ahead of Lundgren and Van der Vlist. Jonass was very satisfied for having obtained his maiden overall victory in the EMX125 championship and he hopes to keep the red plate in the rounds to come.

Second overall was Anton Lundgren after finishing second in both heats. Yesterday the Swedish rider did not have a good start and had to fight really hard from his initial seventh position, but this morning Lundgren took the holeshot and led the first two laps. In the end, he could not keep Jonass behind, but he rode a solid moto in second until the chequered flag.

KTM Bodo Schmidt Motorsport’s Calvin Vlaanderen struggled with the start in both heats, but he showed his great potential by finishing third and fourth. Yesterday he started from the sixth position, but today he was around the twentieth place in the first corner. However, the Dutch rider did not give up and he gave all his best to obtain the third overall position when he moved up to fourth in the last laps of the race.

Kemea-Reytec v/d Laar Yamaha’s Frederik Van der Vlist had a difficult first race yesterday; the Dutch rider crashed at the start of the heat but he managed to find the good rhythm and the good speed to move up to the fifth position. Today he started sixth and he crossed the finish line third, but he missed the podium for just two points.

Home rider Riccardo Righi did two consistent motos and he completed the top five of the Italian round after finishing fourth and eighth in the races. Nicolas Dercourt was sixth overall followed by Henry Jacobi and Ivan Baranov. Kade Tinkler and Lorenzo Ravera completed the top ten.
