Yamaha’s official factory MX2 race outfit is back with the same
pairing from the 2012 Australian Supercross Championship and
preparations have already begun for a busy and successful 2013 season.
"I feel we have a very fast and balanced team in 2013,” states Serco
owner, Gavin Eales. "Styke was impressive in 2012 both with his speed
on the track and his maturity off the track and we are happy to continue
our relationship with him. He is becoming a professional athlete in
many ways and we still think he has plenty of tricks left up his sleeve.
"Clout is young, fast and aggressive with a lot of determination and
they are the perfect characteristics we want in our riders. He loves
racing and I think will be a huge asset to Serco Yamaha in 2013.
"It’s only a few months to the start of the MX Nationals but both
guys are already putting in the hard yards and the team has already
started on the bikes.
"I look forward to another strong season from Serco Yamaha,” Eales concludes.
Luke Styke made plenty of head way in 2012 with his spirited racing
and gained a lot of respect in the racing world. He was agonisingly
close to winning the MX2 division at the MX Nationals, represented
Australia at the Motocross Of Nations and was running third at the
Australian Supercross Championships before a broken wrist left him
sidelined for the remainder of the season.
"When I got my injury, I had it fixed right away and then took some
time off as I felt I needed a break. But, I’m now back up and into my
training and riding and working hard to improve on my 2012 season,”
Styke offers.
"My wrist is coming along nicely and being back with a great team
like Serco allows me to concentrate on my job with the priority being
fit and fast for round one.”
18 year old Luke Clout returned to Australia midway through 2012
after a two year stint in the US. He used his time wisely and found
plenty of speed while in the US and his hard work has been rewarded with
a factory Serco Yamaha contract for 2013.
"It’s every racer’s goal to get on a factory team and to be on a
team as successful as Serco Yamaha is unreal. Their bikes are awesome
and the support around us riders is the best. I know I have the best
bikes and people around me and I’m determined to make the most of this
opportunity with them.”
The Serco Yamaha team will compete in selected pre- season events in
the lead to the opening round of the MX Nationals at Raymond Terrace in
April.
