The KTM Racing Department with headquarters
in Mattighofen, Austria, has confirmed that British rider Jake Nicholls,
who has recently re-signed for the Nestaan JMRacing KTM team, will
receive support in 2013 with engine material from KTM.
Nicholls has
just completed a great year with the Jacky Martens owned and managed
team, a proven training ground for KTM’s future top riders.
Jake
finished overall fourth in the MX2 World Championship and scored a
swathe of points in all but two individual races in the 16-round, 32
race series.
Team manager Jacky Martens said he expected a lot from Jake
in the 2013 season. "Five of the top six MX2 riders have come through
the ranks of my team and next we want to go for the podium. We want to
go for the championship. It will be difficult, we know, because Jeffrey
Herlings (KTM factory rider and 2012 MX2 World Champion) is unbelievably
good, but we will try. Jake has only been one year in my team and we
expect a lot from him next season.”
The 22-year-old Nicholls first stepped on a bike at the age of two and
first raced at six. He raced his first GP at 17 years and as well as
competing in the MX2 World Championship in 2012 he has also competed in
the Dutch championship. He has competed for the British team in the
Motocross of Nations in 2011 and has again been selected in the team for
the 2012 edition to be held at Lommel.
