NZ MX Team to Lommel on the move

Josh Coppins is back in England after riding in the FIM Motocross World Championship events in Italy (Faenza) last weekend. Termed his ‘comeback’ Josh started fourth in the first moto, but he started losing the rhythm and he could only finish ninth. In the second race he was thirteenth, which gave him the overall twelfth place.

Josh’s MXoN MX1 bike is being ‘supplied’ by the Rinaldi-led division of the team.  Josh will also be riding at the final round of the World MX Germany (Teutschenthal) on 23 September.

Team Manager Tony Cooksley said that Kayne Lamont's dad Stu said that he expects to depart today to join Josh in England.  A KTM250 is being ‘supplied’ by Nestaan - JM Racing KTM, a professional motocross racing team owned and managed by the 1993 MX 500 World Champion Jacky Martens.

Cody Cooper and travelling reserve Rhys Carter are also leaving today.  They are going direct to Lommel in Belgium and will be based with Rex Michau’s DIRTBIKE-Gym/Eastwood Honda team.  For those that don’t know, Kiwis Kieran Scheele and Hamish Harwood have been with that team this year – second year for Kieran.  Rex moved his British base to Lommel this season and they are only 10 minutes from the Lommel track.

Cody and Rhys are both being 'supplied' bikes by Rockstar Energy Suzuki based in Belgium who run Clement Desalle and Tanel Leok.  Geboers Racing Promotion (GRP) has Lommel-based workshop and facilities. Team Manager is Eric Geboers and Team Principal Sylvain Geboers - Sylvain is a former 250cc Grand Prix winner in 1984.  The bikes were arranged by Tony Cooksley through Kiwi Roy Matheson who’s in charge of Data logging and FI.

Tony Cooksley departs for Holland on Monday and will initially stay with Jan and Jolande Doeksen.  Tony's daughter Abby will join him for a few days from London. Tony then goes to Germany for the final round at Teutschenthal.  Then it’s back to Belgium with the team - Tony's staying at Geel, 15 minutes from Lommel.
