MX1 and MX2:  Italian rider Antonio Cairoli and Scotsman Shaun Simpson are very much looking forward to getting back to the Matterley Basin circuit in the south of England.

Cairoli, who has been in great form in the Eastern journey of the 2012 FIM World Motocross Championship, has many great memories from the Matterley Basin circuit, including his moto victory over Ryan Villopoto at the 2006 Motocross of Nations.

"It's a circuit I really like," Cairoli said. "It's got a really good feeling about it, the dirt is good and it's technical, it's one of my favourite circuits and I know that many riders enjoy racing there. Also the people are very excited and we always have a good atmosphere in British races."

Simpson who actually led a moto in 2011 before the race was stopped due to an accident with Billy Mackenzie and Tanel Leok also likes the layout of the Matterley Basin circuit. Having ridden in his home Grand Prix on many occasions it's always exciting and gives him confidence.

"To be able to line up and know that most of the crowd are behind you," Simpson said,. ""tThat is a real good feeling. Last year I should have had a really good race, but it was stopped while I was in front, that was very frustrating. I like the layout of the circuit and the fact is Steve Dixon puts in a really big effort to make sure we have a good track to ride on."

Three times World 500cc Motocross Champion Dave Thorpe who will be in attendance with his Honda UK team can't wait to get to the circuit and support his fellow countrymen.

"You know it doesn't matter what type of rider you are," Thorpe said. "If you are a top 20 guy or a top 10 guy or a possible GP winner the crowd will support you, and they will make sure you know which country you are from. It's easy for a British rider to rise his game and put on a really big effort, because the crowd is so enthusiastic."

World Veterans:  Darryll King will be there to ride in the World Vets event - Race 1 is on Thursday and Race 2 late Saturday.
DK twice finished runner-up in the 500cc Motocross World Championships in 1997 and 1998.  In 2010 DK openly admitted he never gave himself enough time between the travel and the then Lierop (Netherlans) event and the jet-lag had an effect on his racing.

This year DK attended Stefan Everts Charity Event in Belgium last weekend so has two weeks to prepare. He is staying with Yamaha dealer Jos Dophijn at Antwerpen in Belgium. Let's hope 2012 is DK's year.
