X Games Moto X Women's Racing
Saturday 30 June (LA time): Vicki Golden made it two years and two X Games gold medals as she took the win in Moto X Women's Racing Saturday night at the STAPLES Center in Los Angeles.
"The
start was very tricky off the wood," Golden said. "I have to credit my
time racing arenacross against the boys with giving me my edge on this
tight X Games course."
Golden was out of the gate first and retained her lead on the other five
racers for ten laps of rhythm sections, technical transitions and a
finishing jump, which she threw a whip on crossing the finish line to
take her victory.
Following Golden in second was the most decorated athlete in Women's
Moto X, Tarah Gieger, who stayed on Golden's heels throughout the race,
finishing just over seven seconds behind her.
"I have lots of respect for Vicki and a second against her is as good as
a gold," Gieger said. "I look forward to X Games every year and it's
one of my favorite events."
Rounding out the podium was Livia Lancelot who moved into third in the
early half of the race, and gave Gieger a run for her money when she
passed her in lap seven momentarily.
