Harri Kullas in winning form at Frankenbach

Harri Kullas won both motos and celebrated overall victory at the Winter Motocross International meeting at Frankenbach in Germany on Sunday.

The young Finn guided the speedy and formidable RM-Z250 to a 1-1 scorecard after cutting though the upper echelons of the pack in the races run in reasonably warm temperatures and bright conditions.

A decent crowd came to the naturally set, hard-pack and short circuit located near Heilbronn in western Germany and while Kullas was able to toast his first garland as part of the team, he was part of an impressive set of performances by the 'yellow' crew. Petar Petrov, now near full race fitness after sustaining an injured hand in his debut outing at Valence three weeks ago, recovered from average starts to pull up to fifth and third to occupy the third step of the podium and - like Kullas - reap his first significant set of results for his squad.

Not to be outdone by his older and more experienced team-mates, new Spanish star Jorge Zaragoza flighted his RM125 two-stroke to third overall against the 250cc four-strokes in what was an eye-catching run by the 15 year old in the youngster category. Zaragoza has already accumulated an excited following for his talent and potential in his homeland and his rides to fourth and third hinted at his promise for the rest of 2012.

Said Team Manager Thomas Ramsbacher: "A really great day for Suzuki at Frankenbach and it was really positive for our guys to get those results and pick up the confidence that we hope will carry them into what will be an exciting Grand Prix to start the FIM World Championship. Harri, Petar and Jorge all rode well today and were a credit to the team and the brand; it was good to watch them come through and attack the track like that. It is just what we wanted on the edge of the season."

The first round of the ADAC MX Masters German Championship takes place at Drehna at the end of the month, one week before the opening Grand Prix of the season at Valkenswaard in the Netherlands over Easter weekend.
