FIM Motocross World Champion's Awards

Eric Geboers went on stage as the Motocross Legend for being the first rider ever to win FIM Motocross World Championship titles in all three classes - 500cc, 250cc and 125cc - and he handed the FIM gold medals and the FIM diplomas to the FIM MX1 World Champion Antonio Cairoli, FIM MX2 World Champion Ken Roczen and FIM MX3 World Champion Julien Bill.

The youngest rider ever to win an FIM World Title at ten years of age, Jorge Prado, the FIM 65cc Junior Motocross World Champion, received his well deserved award by the hands of Eric Geboers, and the FIM 85cc Junior World Champion Pauls Jonass, the FIM 125cc Junior World Champion Joseph Savatgy and the FIM Women’s Motocross World Champion Stephanie Laier also went on stage to receive the FIM gold medals and their diplomas.

Eric Geboers was also the responsible to hand the awards to the FIM Snowcross World Champion Emil Öhman and the FIM SuperMoto S1 World Champion Adrien Chareyre.

Spanish FIM Superbike World Champion Carlos Checa received the FIM Personality of the Year award, whereas his compatriot Laia Sanz, FIM Women’s Trial World Champion, was awarded as the FIM Women of the Year. Maciej Janowski from Poland was elected as the FIM Rookie of the Year after being proclaimed the FIM Speedway Under 21 World Champion.

During the FIM Gala Ceremony Marco Simonceli was also remembered and after a video remembering his numerous achievements, all the people present at the Casino Estoril stood up and dedicated a warm applause to the recently passed away road racing rider.
