A look at the tracks for MX1/MX2 for 2012

With the first stop being on the Easter Monday in Valkenswaard, Holland, the series has one of the best known sand circuits in the World starting proceedings.

Of course Valkenswaard will give riders like Antonio Cairoli and Jeffrey Herlings a strong start to the season, as both love the Dutch sand.

After Valkenswaard we head to Sevlievo, a circuit that has been considered the best Motocross facility in the World and it always produces close racing, as the friendly Bulgarian people accept us with open arms.

From Bulgaria the FIM World Motocross Championship moves to Fermo, Italy. This is another classic old school circuit and has been closer to the tail end of the season in the last two years. Its spectacular landscape and hard pack surface gives the riders an exciting time, as they race for victory.

The month of May brings us Beto Carrero, Brazil, and Queretaro, Mexico, and both these events hold surprises, as both are new facilities for the FIM World Motocross Championship. These two Grand Prix’s also give the paddock people time to enjoy life on the road, as they venture into the unknown. It’s the first ever Mexican Grand Prix and that in itself makes that round very special for the sport.

More common circuits follow with St Jean D’Angely following on from its Monster Energy FIM Motocross of Nations success of 2011 and we will for sure be able to enjoy this hard pack circuit. Next up is Agueda, Portugal, a circuit that offers a very technical layout and the red dirt of Portugal always brings exciting racing.

A favorite month for the FIM World Motocross Championship is July and in 2012 we will be spoilt with a month of amazing facilities and adventure. Uddevalla in Sweden, Kegums in Latvia, and Semigorje in Russia, will be the next three races. With the beautiful countryside of Sweden and Latvia, we once again go into the unknown, as we will arrive in Russia not really knowing what to expect. In 2002 the Grand Prix of Russia was an enjoyable stop for the FIM World Motocross Championship riders and teams; we expect it to have the same effect in 2012.

The hard pack of Loket, Czech Republic, starts the month of August and then two weeks later it’s Matterley Basin with its valley circuit and amazing scenery. In September we get to return to Lierop, Holland, which was cut from the calendar in 2011. Lierop is many people’s favorite sand circuit and the Dutch fans always come out in large numbers to support their hero Jeffrey Herlings.

The final race on the 2012 FIM World Motocross Championship is Teutschenthal in Germany and many expect 2011 FIM World MX2 Champion Ken Roczen to make a return to his homeland to prepare for the following week's Monster Energy FIM Motocross of Nations, set for the Lommel circuit in Belgium.

Alan H:  At this year's MXoN the 'gossip' was KTM had said if Germany was the last round they would bring their American based riders over - Dungey and Roczen as MXoN is the week later.

Two facilities are yet to be decided, but whatever appears on those dates can only make the 2012 season better. All in all, we have an amazing calendar for 2012 and it won’t matter who wins the Championship, the pleasure will come from these great facilities and special countries.
