Taupo's Extravaganza at Labour Weekend

As is the case with most of the bigger events last minute entries swell the numbers despite having to pay a late fee. In the MX1 Class there was only 6 at closure on 06 October.

There are some interesting changes amongst the Senior ranks.
  1. Brad Groombridge is entered on a Huka Honda CRF450.  Brad was formerley with Daryl Hurley's Action Motorcycles Suzuki in Hawera.
  2. Rhys Carter remains with Suzuki but his news is:  "The big update is that I signed a new contract with Suzuki NZ Race Team and will now be there lites rider (MX2) which I am super happy about and can't wait for Labour Weekend to get on the new bike and new team which will be awesome. I have to say a big thanks to Andrew Hardisty for pushing my name forward to get the ride and can't wait to get some good results for everybody."
  3. Kieran Leigh is back from Canada where he rode for Mason Phillips KTM satellite team, racing as Kini Red Bull KTM Race Team.  He finished 6th in the Championship and will be returning again next year.  Kieran had been with Yamaha for as long as I can remember and broke his femur practicing for last season's NZ Supercross Champs which meant he missed the Motocross Nationals.  At Taupo he is riding for CMR KTM NZ.
