Australia's 2011 Monster Energy SuperX series

Global Action Sport's Monster Energy Super X, the Australasian Supercross Championships returns this month with 5 new locations later this month and into November.

Now in its fourth year, the pioneering series will kick off with its ’first ever event in:

  1. Melbourne on Saturday 22 October
  2. Wollongong on Saturday 29 October
  3. Sydney (Campbelltown) on Saturday 05 November
  4. Hunter Valley (Maitland) on Saturday 12 November
  5. South East Queensland (Ipswich) on Saturday 19 November.

The first class rider lineup includes Dan Reardon and Tye Simmonds, Chris Blose, Jay and Ryan Marmont, Billy MacKenzie, Cheyne Boyd, Matt and Jake Moss, Brenden Harrison and Josh Cachia.

Kiwi riders will be there.  Mike Phillips is riding for Carlton Dry Thor Honda.  Their website says that Cody Cooper is riding for Team Motul Rockstar Suzuki (but I can't confirm that - Alan H.).  Haki Waller is also riding the series - that's if he recovers from his crash at the Aussie Juniors.  Haki says he is staying with the Cashias.

Fans can also look forward to far greater value in 2011, with an all new and more affordable ticket price structure starting from $19 (plus booking fee).  Also not to be missed is the Monster FMX demo featuring some of Australia’s best freestyle talent including Kain Saul and Brad Burch.

In addition there are two exciting new championship initiatives; The Super X Club Challenge and the Pit Bike Cup.

The Super X Club Challenge will run as a relay team race at every round and is open to any club and its riders (supercross endorsed) in Australia. Each team will consist of three riders; one Open, one Lites and one Under 19’s, with points tallied from every round to crown the winning club at the series decider in Ipswich on November 19. Based on the format of the incredibly popular Australia versus USA team challenge, which featured as an exhibition race in 2010, each team member will race one lap and will need to tag their next team mate before they can take off.

There will be a $10,000 prize pool on offer for the winning team with a $5,000 cash prize from Global Action Sports that will be matched with $5,000 from Monster Energy to go toward club development.

Managing Director of Global Action Sports, Michael Porra, has created the Club Challenge to allow clubs to get more involved and play a major part in the premier supercross series.

"I was inspired to introduce this challenge into Super X after seeing what a huge success a similar initiative in Australian surfing has been. The Surftag national title has really bought clubs back into professional competition and made its members proud to represent them. I have no doubt it will be just as successful in Super X given the passion all of the riders have for their sport and riding community. Every competitor in our series is a member of a motorcycle club, which has no doubt played a huge part in the passion and talent they bring to their professional career. Now they can team up with other riders from their district and give their club the chance to grab some of the lucrative prize money on offer as well as national recognition.

A Pit Bike cup will also be introduced to the series and will crown a champion at the final round. Global Action Sports have been conducting fan research on what they would like to see at Super X events and have been overwhelmed with the interest in pit bike racing.

These two new initiatives combined with the addition of the Under 19s class and the Monster Energy Kawasaki FMX Demo to the existing schedule, they have added a full hour to the official event program at every race.
