Reed records back-to-back podiums

Eager to capitalise on last weekend's podium result, Chad Reed showed good pace onboard the ‘Pink' liveried TwoTwo Motorsports Honda CRF450 throughout his heat race.

The Australian got a good start in the 20-lap Main Event and was third out of the first corner, a position he held until the chequered flag.

Reed acknowledged the team had learnt a lot at Oakland and said the bike had taken a big step forward in testing this week.

"With only 9 weeks lead time to establish my own team before the start of this championship we have had no choice but to work in a strict order of priorities," Reed explained. "First it was staff and infrastructure then it was about the bike and now all eyes are on me.

"Up until now my time and attention has been pulled in so many different directions but from here on it is all about the riding - doing motos and sharpening up my game as a rider.

"I would like to thank Pro Circuit, American Honda and Showa we couldn't have made the gains we have without their assistance," he said.

Tonight's strong points haul sees Reed move into third in the championship standings.

"We have just finished Round 5 and there is a long way to go. I need to stay in touch with the championship leaders and be ready to jump come crunch time," Reed continued.

"I would also like to thank everyone who helped us tonight to show our support for Breast Cancer awareness. We put the plans in place a while ago and Fox, Shift, Alpinestars and Factory Effex pulled out all stops to ensure everything was ready for tonight.

Reeds one off riding gear from tonight will be auctioned off with all monies going to support Breast Cancer Research in Australia whilst Factory Effex will be producing a limited number of the pink graphic kits in support of the Susan G Koman Foundation.

The team will now prepare for next weekends round of the 2011 Monster Energy AMA Supercross Championship, an FIM World Championship at Houston's Reliant Stadium on Saturday 12 February.
