NZ Supercross Open – Mt Maunganui - 30 December.
Sat 18 Dec: Held at Poplar Lane, between Mount Maunganui and Te Puke, the event is being held at pro motocrosser Mason Phillip’s home track. This event is not part of the Supercross Championship but none-the-less a feature event of the Supercross calendar.
Timed purposely to capture the
influx of holiday makers to the Bay of Plenty holiday hotspot. That
is without forgetting the solid off road dirt bike community that runs
through the surrounding catchment and of course, the Tauranga and Mt
Maunganui locals, a solid crowd to this hi-energy racing spectacle seems
a very likely proposition.
The full size US inspired Supercross facility offers superb viewing from all vantage points.
Top
level riders have confirmed their place on the start line of the NZ
Supercross Open including former GP International Star Josh Coppins
(MXDK Rockstar Yamaha) and team mate Hayden Clarke, Mount Maunganui
local, Power Balance Suzuki rider Cody Cooper, Kawasaki pilot Nick
Saunders, and Honda mounted Mike Phillips, Peter Broxholme and Jesse Wiki.
In
addition to the solid local talent base, the organisers of the NZ
Supercross Open are about to make an 'exciting' announcement regarding
international talent to add to the already impressive line up.
