A sneak peak at MXGP State of Goias
Saturday 06 September: Trindade, which is apparently pronounced ‘trin-da-ge’ according to the locals with the ‘D’ on the end of the word being pronounced as a ‘G’.
Interestingly enough, this weekend will mark MXGP's only second stop in the Southern Hemisphere with the first being the first Brazilian round of MXGP which took place earlier this year in Beto Carerro.
So far the weather has been hot and dry with this month actually
being the warmest and driest month of the year in this area. While the
locals have said that the chance of rain is slim to none, it must have
been our lucky week with an extremely rare storm whirling its way around
the State of Goias on Wednesday dumping a ton of much needed water on
the premises.
With the unexpected down pour adding some extra depth to the
distinctive red clay we’ve come to know and love in Brazil, the track
builders are out having a field day as they put the finishing touches on
the super modern 100% man-made circuit. As a slight insight on what to
expect from the track here in Trindade, it looks as though it will be
very fun and flowing with plenty of perfectly formed jumps sure to
encourage the riders to go big and throw big while it also embodies some
man made hills which will witness a bit of scrubbing action, leaving a
few other new and unique obstacles and berms to make up the rest of the
track.
Meanwhile as water is continuously being thrown down in effort to
keep the typically tacky red clay as moist as possible, the track crew
here will be thankful for a rather short program this weekend with MXGP
and MX2 being the only two categories to ride on the track.
As for the infrastructure, the paddock is similar to what was in Beto
Carerro with big marquee’s homing the teams and riders, while the ever
passionate Brazilian spectators are in for a treat with multiple
grandstands standing approximately three to four stories high
surrounding the entire track providing optimum viewing for all who show
up to experience MXGP’s first ever State of Goias round.
