Support sought for new Auckland Motocross facility
Wednesday 28 May: It's been a couple of years since we heard from Carl Sorenson from Main Jet Events and the motosport facility he was 'going to develop' at Colin Dale Park on Price Rd out near the Auckland International Airport.
The Auckland Supercity merge changed all that when Manukau was 'absorbed' however it's now all go and if there is enough support Carl just might have the bulldozers back in, as early as October.
This was the recent feature in the Manukau Courier.
Main Jet Events will
manage and operate the Motocross Park which will be open to the public
weekdays and weekends.
You can make a submission in support of Colin Dale Park motosport
facilities and the leasing of the motocross park to Main Jet Events
Limited. You can lodge this by email to
cdps@aucklandcouncil.govt.nz or in writing, no later than
6th June 2014, to:
Kim Isaac
Community Lease Adviser
Auckland Council

The following are some templates to aide in your submissions.
If using a template preferably change
some word, and/or combine some paragraphs and/or shuffle around the paragraphs
and or add paragraphs of your own
TEMPLATE ONE
We/I are in favour of the Council
issuing the leases and Licence as per the advertisement in NZ Herald 6 May
2014, regarding Colin Dale Park. The Council is to be congratulated on its
foresight.
Motorsport is an activity in
which New Zealand has a high profile via Bruce McLaren, Denny Hulme, Chris
Amon, Scott Dixon, Mitch Evans and many others. This is over the range of
motorsports, 4WD, 2WD, Circuits, off road, rallying.
Motorsport covers all genders
and multi ages.
Motorsport involves not only
the driver(s) but support persons who cover a variety of skills, mechanical,
electronics, panel work etc.
It is sensible to have
different motorsport activities together so that infrastructure facilities and
organisation can be shared, and
spectators can view a variety of activities in one place,
It is sensible that these
motorsport activities be located at a location away from residential
developments and in an area that already has a high noise level i.e. under the
flight path of the Auckland Airport.
TEMPLATE TWO
We/I are in favour of the Council
issuing the Leases and Licence to Occupy at Colin Dale Park as per the
advertisement in NZ Herald 6 May 2014.
Having all these activities together
will be marvellous entertainment for participants and spectators alike.
The location is the right location for
these activities as it is in a noisy zone and away from residential areas, but
still accessible to major motorways therefore permitting easy access.
Putting the activities in one place is
also a good use of facilities that need to be shared.
TEMPLATE THREE
We/I agree with the Council issuing the
Leases and Licence to Occupy at Colin Dale Park as per the advertisements in NZ
Herald and Manukau Courier May 2014.
The location already has noise being in
the Auckland Airport flight path and at a point where power is on whether the
airplanes are ascending or descending.
Having multiple events will make it
attractive and interesting. We/ I understand the go kart facility will be to
world standard, and we understand of a standard to be part of the world series It
will be great to have a family jet sprint class available as jet sprinting is
exciting but current classes are out of the reach of 99% of the population,
plus existing venue are remote and few with few facilities.
TEMPLATE FOUR
We/I agree with the Council issuing for
Colin Dale Park Leases and Licence to occupy per advertisements in NZ Herald
and Manukau Courier May 2014.
Auckland has over 1 million people and
growing rapidly. The population needs facilities such as these to allow the
population to undertake activities that are challenging and healthy. Being a
"controlled” area then behaviour is much more easily
monitored than multi venues
Without facilities such as this idle
people will resort to illegal activities (boy racers etc) and crime.
The location is logical for obvious
reasons (being under the Auckland Airport flight path). Being within Auckland is
great rather than having to travel long distances (time/fuel cost, etc)
Motorsport is a significant sport in NZ
and NZ has a high reputation. Facilities such as this allow development, create
employment and exports, and attract tourism
TEMPLATE FIVE
Council issuing for Colin Dale Park
Leases and Licence to occupy per advertisements in NZ Herald and Manukau
Courier May 2014.
What a good idea and it has our support.
It puts sports that generate noise where
there is already (more) noise and away from residential areas but still within
inner Auckland and accessible
Go Karts has produced world recognise
motorsport driver such as Scott Dixon, Mitch Evan, and others and this will
give aspiring drivers an international facility.
BMX has produced world winners such as
Sarah Walker and this will give aspiring BMXers an international facility.
Jet sprinting originated in NZ but few
NZers will ever have the opportunity to compete, current classes being too
powerful and expensive, plus the venues are scattered around remote place and
there are few events. A family jet sprint class and a pond inner Auckland will
allow the population to participate in this exciting sport,
safely, regularly and economically.
All these activities in one place will
provide diverse dynamic entertainment.
