Desalle and Ferris win in Bastogne

MX2 start.

The Grand Prix of Belgium had motocross fans worldwide tuning in due to two big factors. One was that there was a chance Antonio Cairoli would be crowned FIM Motocross MX1 World Champion, and secondly MX2 star Jeffrey Herlings dislocated his shoulder yesterday in qualifying and would not be racing today meaning one MX2 rider was about to receive their first ever FIM MX2 Grand Prix overall.

In the MX1 Clement Desalle refuses to go down without a fight, taking the victory here in Bastogne leaving the MX1 world title still up for grabs. Antonio Cairoli finished second overall ahead of Evgeny Bobryshev in third.  In the 2013 World Championship Cairoli has a 90 point lead with 690, over Desalle on 600. Ken de Dycker is 3rd on 542.

Meanwhile in the MX2 Dean Ferris dominated both races to take his first ever GP overall ahead of Jordi Tixier in second and Glenn Coldenhoff in third.  Kiwi John Phillips was 34th.
