2013 Monster Energy FIM Junior Motocross World Championship

This championship is growing significantly every year and everybody knows the importance of attending such event, as well-known champions like Ryan Villopoto, Ken Roczen or the recently crowned FIM MX2 World Champion Jeffrey Herlings have previously been FIM Junior Motocross World Champions. One more year there is a new record of entries with 231 riders coming from 43 different countries and representing all the continents.

The age limit of all the participants is from 10 to 17 years old and they are divided in three different classes: 65cc, 85cc and 125cc, and each class has its own age restrictions; the 65cc riders are from 10 to 12 years old, the ones in the 85cc class are from 11 to 14 and the oldest ones, who will race in the 125cc class, are from 13 to 17 years old. For third year in a row SCOTT Sports keeps on supporting the young generations and they will give a Scott Voltage YZ20 to the three 2013 Monster Energy FIM Junior Motocross World Champions.

Due to the large number of entries in each class, the riders of each category will be divided in two groups and they will take part in a free practice and a qualifying practice on Saturday, and only the best 40 riders will enter the main event which will take place on Sunday. Last year it was Caleb Grothues from Australia, Brian Hsu from Germany and Tim Gajser from Slovenia the 2012 FIM 65cc, 85cc and 125cc Junior World Champions respectively, and Team The Netherlands was on the top of the podium as the winning team thanks to their consistent results, team Italy was second and Team USA completed the top three.

In the 65cc class there are loads of young talents ready to show their abilities to the world, as well as in the 85cc class where there are many riders that will be battling for the title. Among the favourites in the 85cc class there are the four American riders Michael Misiman, Chase Sexton, Sean Cantrell or Mitchell Falk, Brazilian Enzo Lopes, British Conrad Mewse, Dutch Roan Van de Moosdijk, Italian Gianluca Facchetti or the former FIM 65cc Junior Motocross World Champion Jorge Prado from Spain. 2012 FIM 65cc Junior Motocross World Champion Caleb Grothues has moved up one category and this year he will be giving his best in the 85cc class.

There are up to five American riders in the 125cc class, Jarek Balkovic, Alex Frye, Cole Barbieri, Josh Mosiman and Tristan Charboneau, but the talented Latvian rider Pauls Jonass, who is currently leading the EMX125 European Championship and was the 2011 FIM 85cc Junior Motocross World Champion, as well as other riders such as Jorge Zaragoza from Spain, Nicolas Dercourt from France, Davy Pootjes from The Netherlands or former FIM Junior Motocross World Champions Henry Jacobi or Brian Hsu will give their best to fight for the Title.
