I took two months off after the final round of the Australian series back in August, were I finished up a disappointing 14th.  After the 6th place the year before I was expecting a lot more. There were a few things that didn’t go right throughout the year. One big one was breaking my ankle at round one and also not completely getting over the head injury I had at the start of the year.

I knew lots of athletes go through a slump or a have trouble getting back to where they were before an injury but at the time it didn’t make it any easier for me to get over it.

After the two months off I felt I still wanted it and I have what it takes to win. It was a good time for my body to completely recover both mentally and physically from knocks and injuries I had picked up but never really pay much attention to during the season.

I’ve been back on the bike for 6 weeks now and feeling back up to speed working mostly on the basics and having fun again.

I have had a few lower key races that have been good stepping stones leading up to the start of the season. I jumped back on my brothers Honda CRF250 and raced the Auckland Champs. I think that riding the 250 as well has got me into the race mode a lot better than just riding the 450.

I have been riding Rowlinson Honda’s 2013 CRF 450 that has a complete makeover this year. So far it’s feeling really good. We still have a bit of testing to do to get it were we want it but everything is coming together nicely.

Our first race for the NZ season is on the 30th of Dec at Whakatane’s Summercross. It’s just a one off race but a good test to see how everything is going heading towards the nationals in February.

A big thanks to the guys at MX factory in Australia for the season. It was a tough year but I’m taking what I can from it to make me a stronger rider.

Also to all my other sponsors and supporters this year. Thanks for being behind me through the good and bad.

Wishing you all a Marry Christmas and Happy Holidays.

Stay safe and God Bless
