Valentin Teillet expected to miss the next three rounds

Teillet is expected to be out of action for the next three rounds of the FIM Motocross MX2 World Championship after his second race crash in Bulgaria.

The French Suzuki Europe MX2 rider underwent a thorough examination, including MRI scans, at the Ortema facility in Germany last week. Even though initial checks in Bulgaria had discovered no breaks to his right shoulder, the intensive tests have revealed a fractured right shoulder blade, a broken rib and bruising to his back. The shoulder joint itself is stable.

The former European Champion fell in the second moto at Sevlievo while trying to recover from a first corner pile-up. He lost control on the fast approach to a scrub jump and hit the face of the obstacle.

Teillet will now be supervised in his treatment and rehab by a surgeon renowned in the motorsport world, Dr Claes, in Belgium. The team hopes that he might be fit to consider a comeback for his home event at St Jean D'Angely on June 5th, meaning that he will miss trips to Holland, USA and Brazil.

"It has been a tough week. We were worried after Valentin's crash, then reassured a little when nothing was really found on the x-rays in Bulgaria but afterwards we discovered the full scale of the damage in Germany," commented Team Manager Thomas Ramsbacher. "Of course we want him to take his time and get fit and normally he will be looking at a month away from the bike at least. For sure it is not the start to the season that we want but we hope we can come back strong from this."
