from ... Dean Ferris

After the mud bath at the opening round all the riders were happy to be greeted by sun shine and a dry, all be it very rutted circuit.

After qualifying in 4th place young Dean Ferris felt confident of a strong result in the opening moto, but a big fall on the first lap put Ferris at the back of the pack and he was only able to fight back to 11th position by the end of the short race.

Shrugging off his opening moto fall Ferris was on fire in Moto 2 as he chased down Cody Cooper before taking the lead. Half way into the moto Ferris collided with a slower rider and went down. Quickly re-mounting he was able to salvage 6th position, but was naturally disappointed.

As the gate dropped for Moto 3 the 111 machine of Ferris ripped the hole-shot and was once again flying around the tight and rutted circuit. Not putting a foot wrong Ferris took the win.

In Moto 4 Ferris grabbed another decent start as he chased Ryan Marmont and Billy Mackenzie through the first few turns, but by the end of lap one Ferris had once again taken command out front, and rode to a solid victory.

With a strong point score for the day, Ferris now heads to round 3 next weekend with a narrow points lead over team mate Billy Mackenzie.

"The day started bad, but ended well for me. After that fall in the opening race I was a bit gutted because I just threw away points, then in Moto 2 I hit another rider and once again fell !  I felt very good on the Kawasaki though and I knew if I could have a clean race there was a good chance to get a win in, and luckily it paid off. I am really happy to win a Moto early in the season, last year it took me all season to get a Moto win, so hopefully I can keep the momentum now. The bike and the team have been awesome, and I can’t wait for round 3.”  said Dean Ferris.
