Australian Super X Series opens this Saturday.
Chad Reed today unveiled a unique livery based on V8 Supercar team TeamVodafone for his Honda CR450cc race machine. The two-time Australasian Super X Champion will ride under the Team Vodafone banner, with a new-look bike setting Reed apart.. That is on top of the 'story-book' 1-2 finish at Bathurst on the weekend. Reed is a long-time supporter of the team and has been sighted in the pit-garage at a number of events. Look for Reed and the Honda to be in the luminous red and chrome colours of TeamVodafone. Three-time Australian Supercross champion, Reardon, 24, returned home from the USA after another season in the AMA. He finished the 2009 Super X championship as second in the Open Class. Waters and Mosig are no strangers to the podium. Global Action Sports that owns the series earlier announced that two-time X Games Super X Gold Medalist Josh Hansen, a member of the omnipotent Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki outfit, will line up for each and every round of the 2010 Monster Energy Super X series. CDR Rockstar Yamaha host US import Justin Brayton - see below. American rider Davi Millsaps was scheduled to race in Canberra and Launceston rounds but will no longer be coming. Round 1 Format: Double HeaderClass: Open and LitesOpen riders will compete in 2 x 8 lap heats and Lites in 2 x 6 lap heats. Positions 1 to 9 will progress direct to the final.The final will consist of 2 x 12 lap races in the Open class and 2 x 8 lap races in Lites, with points awarded for each race and accumulated to find a winner. I also feel we are well prepared as the team and I have done some extensive testing while in the US and even more in the week leading up to the opening round. It starts on Saturday and I hope we have a huge crowd turn out for what looks to be a great championship,” Marmont concludes. Joining Marmont will be a couple of guest riders for the CDR Rockstar Yamaha team. With Cheyne Boyd sidelined with an ankle injury, Craig Dack has opened up the spot for Ross Beaton, runner up in the Under 19 MX Nationals, to keep the seat warm until Boyd is back to full strength and ready to resume racing. The opening three rounds will also see CDR Rockstar Yamaha host US import Justin Brayton. Brayton, currently ranked five in the AMA SX Championships, will make his Australian debut this weekend at Newcastle. "We look forward to hosting both Ross and Justin for the opening three rounds of Super X,” says team owner Craig Dack. "We are excited to give Ross this opportunity and reward him for a successful motocross campaign while working with Justin is just another example of how Yamaha teams around the world work together for the benefit of the rider and the company,” he concludes. SERCO YAMAHA Gibbs was a consistent top five rider in last years’ championship but has since picked up his supercross skills and is looking for a much better result in his 2011 campaign. "I have worked hard with the team to get my bike as good as possible and do the training needed to be successful at Super X. I feel we have made the right improvements to the bike and my riding is a step above last year so I expect to do well and look forward reaching my goals this year,” Gibbs said. For Ford Dale, it is a welcome return to Super X as he missed a lot of last years’ series with injury. But now 100% fit and ready to race, Dale is also expected to be a front runner in the championship wants to reward himself and the Serco Yamaha team with a championship. "Right after motocross, I had some surgery on my wrist and it feels 100% now. I have been in full training for over a month and have done more riding and practicing for this series than I have for a long time. I just want to start racing,” Dale enthuses.

GYTR ROCKSTAR YAMAHA "We have just finished a few days of testing with the riders in Queensland and I am impressed by their speed and commitment, says head technician Darren Thompson. "Luke proved himself to be a contender in the few rounds he did last year and I see no reason why he can’t do that for a full championship in 2011, while Harley has picked up the game quickly and both riders may surprise a few people as the championship wears on,” Thompson finishes.

Kawasaki Racing Team will be without star man Billy Mackenzie for the start of the Australasian Supercross Championship as he recovers from serious injury. Mackenzie's collar bone injury was suffered while riding in the highly-competitive AMA MX Championship in the USA. While Mackenzie may be sidelined there was better news for Lites riders Cody Mackie and Luke Arbon, with the duo fighting fit ahead of this weekend’s opening round in Newcastle.Fully recovered from a broken collar bone suffered at the tail end of the Australian Motocross Championship, Mackie said he hopes a clean bill of health will mean good results for the Super X series."I didn’t achieve what I was capable of at the MX Championships this year, so I’ve got a lot to prove at Super X,” he said."I’ve got a job to do with KRT and I intend to go out there and do that, starting in Newcastle.”Arbon is hoping for some consistency over the seven-round series after injuries and form hampered his MX season.
